Description

Each month, the Maine Songwriters’ Association presents Songwriters on Stage, a showcase of some of the best songwriters Maine has to offer. The show typically features three seasoned performers and an emerging songwriter to kick the evening off. It’s an opportunity for listeners to discover new music or come hear local favorites in one of the best listening rooms in Maine. The December concert will feature four seasoned performers: Martin Swinger, Bob Colwell, Steve Jones, and Tom Giordano.

Martin Swinger’s songs, ranging from the little plastic parts that hold the world together, to what enlightenment comes from Buddha and Betty Boop falling in love, are whimsically and wisely original and enduring.

Bob Colwell is a musician’s musician. He is the hub of the incredible Hallowell music scene as multi- instrumentalist performer (Keyboards, accordion, mandolin, guitar…) and recording engineer/producer at his home-based studio, The Root Cellar. Whether Bob is performing with The Boneheads, Delco Ray, (brother) Pat Colwell and the Soul Sensations or any of his many more iterations, Bob’s musical influence spans New England and beyond and has inspired generations of musicians.

Steve Jones has been a fixture in the Maine music scene for over thirty-five years. Guitarist, singer, songwriter, teacher, and studio artist is renown for his work with The Boneheads, Steve Jones Band, Dirigo, and Holy Mackerels. He played with classic artists such as Bo Diddley, The Marvellettes, Johnny Rawls, Rick Danko of The Band, Strangefolk, and Cindy Bullens. Jones also opened for B.B. King, Little Feat, NRBQ, The Subdudes, Dr. John, and countless others. Steve released six solo recordings of his own material, seven with The Boneheads, contributed to soundtracks/commercial work, and performed on over a hundred albums by other New England artists.

Tom Giordano creates rich and thoughtful lyrics carried by deep, full-range vocals that draw you in to his stories of life.
