Frontier currently hosts weekly Italian classes, in collaboration with the Institute for Italian Studies. The only institute of its kind in Maine invites you to take part in an authentic Italian experience.

The Institute for Italian Studies was established in May of 2004 and is a lifelong dream realized for its two directors, Maria Luisa De Luca and Paola D'Amato. The Institute is dedicated to teaching Italian language and culture and offers a unique suite of courses tailored to your professional, artistic and academic needs.

Whether it's preparing for a trip to Italy, exploring your heritage, or simply a desire to speak the language, we designed the Institute for Italian Studies so we can focus on meeting your specific personal needs. Spanish

Frontier to host weekly Spanish classes, in collaboration with the Institute for Spanish Studies. The Institute for Spanish Studies promotes the teaching of Spanish language through the understanding and appreciation of the cultures of the Spanish speaking world. Various cultural activities and events will be offered during the course, such as cooking classes, films in Spanish, conversation courses, workshops and full immersions.

Students can now register for Beginning, Intermediate or Conversation classes.  In the Beginning courses, students will be introduced to vocabulary of daily use and grammar of Spanish. Our instructors aim to develop students' ability to comprehend, speak, read and write. The course is open to students who have very little or no exposure to the language. Our teaching is always interactive: our experienced and native instructors emphasize comprehension and conversational skills. The Intermediate course is designed to increase oral proficiency and grammar knowledge. Conversation classes are focused on students' interests. Topics are based on readings of current Spanish events and literary texts.

At the Institute for Spanish Studies you will also be able to take Spanish for Business. Students will learn specific vocabulary and idiomatic expressions to improve communication with Spanish speaking clients, customers and colleagues.  For more information call (207) 329-7013 or (207) 939-5127

Conversational Spanish

Join our monthly Tertulia, an informal gathering for native and advanced speakers interested in learning by sharing ideas with each other. Tertulia gathers in the Crossroads on the third Friday of every month in the late afternoon.
